Community & Corporate Group Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the year, many corporate and community groups partner with the Conservancy to complete various conservation and service projects across the watershed. We love getting to work with local organizations and businesses, and partnering with the Conservancy provides a great opportunity for team building and helping your group meet service hour requirements. We can accommodate groups of all different sizes and at all skill levels of conservation work knowledge. Find out more about these opportunities below!

  • Our annual Perkiomen Stream Clean-up is the largest single-day clean up event in Pennsylvania and we need YOUR help to keep breaking records! Groups make up most of our volunteers for this event! Our Stream Clean-up Corporate Volunteer day is Friday, April 12th. For individuals and small groups, our 2024 Stream Clean-up date is Saturday, April 13th. If you are with a group of 30 or more, you may want to call us at 610-287-9383 or email our Director of Conservation, Jessie Kemper, to discuss which site or sites would be best for your group!

  • Every fall we host the Perkiomen Plant-A-Thon, an annual watershed-wide event where volunteers help plant 10,000 native trees, shrubs and perennials within the Perkiomen watershed from September - November.

  • Get your team involved with our Native Plant Project! Individuals and small groups can sign up for our Native Plant Work Days, or for larger groups, reach out to our Director of Ecology, Beth Myers, to discuss what project might work best for your group!

  • In the summer, the Conservancy helps sites throughout the watershed manage an invasive species of aquatic plant, European water chestnut (EWC), with our EWC removal program. Volunteers help us hand-pull this plant out of waterways to stop it from spreading!

Student Volunteer Opportunities

Our student and youth volunteers play a vital role in helping the Conservancy! Students and young community members can get involved with many of our individual volunteer opportunities, and we also offer several programs and service opportunities specifically for students!

  • With our Summer Assistant program, we offer a service learning opportunity for individuals who have completed 7th through 12th grade. Summer Assistants help our Educators guide pre-K through grade 6 summer campers as they explore the watershed, exercise creativity through crafts and games, and build enduring friendships!

  • The Perkiomen Watershed Youth Conservation Corps (PWCC) gives high school students an opportunity to cultivate their own conservation and community engagement skills through participation in hands-on service learning experiences. This six-month program helps students understand and further the mission of the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy to protect the watershed’s land and water resources.

  • Throughout the year we offer Internship positions for college students looking to gain hands-on experience in the environmental fields of conservation, ecological restoration, invasive species management and environmental education.

  • The Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy also hosts a small number of local high school students looking to fulfill Career Study and Job Shadowing program requirements during the school year. For inquiries, please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Samantha.
